Easter Basket Ideas for Toddlers

If you are looking for fantastic non-candy Easter basket ideas for toddlers, you have come to the right place! As you know, toddlers and an overabundance of sugar are not a good mix. It is always a better idea to fill your little one’s Easter basket with fun treasures than chocolate bunnies. You know that you will be the one eating them all later anyway.

Chocolate Easter Bunny

When choosing Easter basket stuffers, the goal is to find some terrific, SMALL items. Do yourself a favor and save the bicycle for Christmas or a birthday. After all, the Easter Bunny only signed up to fill a reasonably sized basket. When you find the right goodies for your little one, you reap the rewards of a joyful toddler!

Easter baskets can easily be customized to your child and a specific theme. That is what makes them so much fun to put together! I will share some of the Easter basket ideas for toddlers that I have used in the past as well as some that I plan to use this year. Most of these items are inexpensive and able to be enjoyed multiple times. ALL of these Easter basket stuffers are guaranteed crowd pleasers.

Puffy Stickers

Special Easter-themed stickers or whichever type your little one most enjoys would be a great addition to any basket. The puffy stickers (or foam stickers) are easier for little fingers to peel than regular stickers.

Play-doh Eggs

Spring-colored Play-doh eggs might be one of the most obvious Easter basket ideas for toddlers. This is an item that I will toss in my little one’s Easter basket every single year. You really can NEVER have enough Play-doh!

Egg-shaped Sidewalk Chalk

The tie dye eggs are perfect because they have an authentic Easter-egg feel. I did not research before I bought our chalk eggs. I now know that a half dozen can cost as much as two dozen. Keep an eye out for the best prices! If you have enough eggs in your basket, there are other types of Easter-themed chalk that your toddler would enjoy.

Kinetic Sand Eggs

Yes, more egg fillers! Toddlers LOVE kinetic sand. Whatever eggs are not used in the basket can be used on the Easter egg hunt. You can buy a bag of kinetic sand instead if you want less egg things in your toddler’s basket.

Egg Game

I know, I know- more eggs! As much as I like the egg stuffers, I would buy use them if they could not be utilized more than once. A sorting game is perfect for toddlers and these wooden eggs work well with little hands. Save the spoons for whenever you play the game later on and, again, use any extra eggs for the Easter egg hunt!

Small Puzzle

A lot of small puzzles come in sets so that works well if you are buying for more than one child! One puzzle is plenty for an Easter basket. If you have extra puzzles, you can always set them aside for a future holiday or event.

Gardening Set

Any item that encourages outdoor play is a fantastic Easter basket idea for a toddler. Springtime is the perfect time to start working on a garden with your little one. Make sure that they have the necessary tools to have an enjoyable gardening experience. Only put the small items in the set in the basket, such as the gloves and hand tools!

Seeds

Seed packets make a great addition to your little one’s Easter basket, especially if they are interested in helping your plant some spring flowers or vegetables! I would not recommend buying these online because a lot of places overcharge for a few packets of seeds. Check out your local garden center for the best deals and guidance!

Spray Bottle

Fill the bottle with some water before you place it in the Easter basket. This simple stuffer provides SO MUCH enjoyment and can be used for future toddler activities. The spray bottle is easier for little hands to maneuver than a squirt gun, but just as fun!

Insect Catching Kit

Is your little bug curious about other little bugs? Of course, they are! Gift them a safe place to observe nature’s creatures.

Umbrella

Springtime means rain, a lot of rain. However, that does not mean that you have to stay inside. With the right gear, you can always be ready for some Weather Appreciation. Toddlers love being in control of the umbrella, so it is important that they have one that is age-appropriate and simple to maneuver.

Pop Fidget Toy

Pop fidget toys are everywhere right now, and for good reason. They are so much fun for people of all ages, but especially toddlers. This sensory toy is a great tool for redirection and is one of the Parenting Hacks for Traveling with Toddlers that I always have on hand.

Bath Crayons

Bath crayons are so much fun! Keep in mind, however, that not all bath crayons are created equal. As much as I love most Crayola products, their bath crayons are awful. Munchkin bath crayons are amazing. Go for those instead! More often than not, my daughter will opt for coloring in the tub over playing with bath toys!

Binoculars

Some binoculars are always a fantastic Easter basket idea for toddlers. Give your little explorer another tool to figure out their world! They are great for outdoor exploration as well as for birdwatching from indoors.

Balloons

A small pack of balloons, balloon on a stick or a helium balloon can easily be incorporated into your toddler’s Easter basket. For holidays that we are not traveling, I like to give  my little one an inflatable balloon because she LOVES them. When we are traveling, however, I always make sure there are some fun balloons that we can blow up “together” and enjoy.

Kite

Any item that requires outdoor experiences or activities is perfect for your little one’s Easter basket. A kite does just that! There are so many age-appropriate options for toddlers. Flying a kite together is an awesome bonding activity. If your toddler is on the younger side, they will enjoy watching a loved one fly the kite or simply holding the handle as it whips in the wind!
