Freezer Bag Painting
Do you want a great art project with little prep time and no clean up? Freezer bag painting is one of the few art projects that leaves behind zero mess because it is contained! It is a great sensory activity that encourages creativity for younger and older toddlers alike. Actually, you will want to make one of your own as well! Your little one will love manipulating the paint in the bag and creating their work of art!
Items needed:
Scissors
Steps:
Ask your child what color of construction paper they would like to use for their freezer bag painting. If you have a younger toddler, hold up several options and let them choose one.
Next, have your toddler pick out several different colors of paint that they would like to use for their project. Again, if you have a younger toddler, offer several options, and see which interest them the most. It is important to give them choices throughout the entire process because it fosters independence and keeps them engaged.
Trim the construction paper so that it fits inside the gallon freezer bag. You can keep it as a rectangle or cut a special shape!
If they are able to, allow your little one to pour some globs of paint onto the construction paper.
Carefully slide the construction paper into the freezer bag and ensure that the bag is closed. This way, it remains a mess-free activity.
Then, hand the bag over to your little one and let them create!
Once your little one is no longer interested in squishing the paint around in the bag, take the painting out and let it dry somewhere out of reach.
You will LOVE freezer bag painting artwork because it is always unique and fridge-worthy. I have even framed one and given it as a gift! The artwork you see below was done by my daughter and is the featured image on the Inspired Toddler homepage!
